چکیده
This paper investigates construction and approximation properties of the locally divergence-free (LDF) finite elements. Numerical stability of the natural and normalized bases for the LDF elements is analyzed. Error estimates about the jumps and the total divergence of the localized L2-projection are proved and validated through numerical examples.

A note on decision making in medical investigations using new divergence measures for intuitionistic fuzzy sets
Srivastava and Maheshwari (Iranian Journal of Fuzzy Systems 13(1)(2016) 25-44) introduced a new divergence measure for intuitionisticfuzzy sets (IFSs). The properties of the proposed divergence measurewere studied and the efficiency of the proposed divergence measurein the context of medical diagnosis was also demonstrated. In thisnote, we point out some errors in ...
متن کاملCoupling Nonlinear Element Free Galerkin and Linear Galerkin Finite Volume Solver for 2D Modeling of Local Plasticity in Structural Material
This paper introduces a computational strategy to collaboratively develop the Galerkin Finite Volume Method (GFVM) as one of the most straightforward and efficient explicit numerical methods to solve structural problems encountering material nonlinearity in a small limited area, while the remainder of the domain represents a linear elastic behavior. In this regard, the Element Free Galerkin met...
متن کاملIncompressible Finite Elements via Hybridization. Part I: The Stokes System in Two Space Dimensions
In this paper, we introduce a new and efficient way to compute exactly divergence free velocity approximations for the Stokes equations in two space dimensions. We begin by considering a mixed method that provides an exactly divergence-free approximation of the velocity and a continuous approximation of the vorticity. We then rewrite this method solely in terms of the tangential fluid velocity ...
متن کاملTheoretical Analysis of the Optical Properties of Gold Nanoparticles Using DDA Approximation
This article describes a study, using numerical simulation, of the optical properties of nano particles as a function of their size. Many methods introduced to simulate and calculate the interaction of light and particle, such as Mie analysis, boundary element and finite element methods. The Discrete Dipole Approximation (DDA), wherein a target geometry is modeled as a ...
متن کاملBases for C0-P1 divergence-free elements and for C1-P2 finite elements on union jack grids
It is a challenge to find point wise (including inter-element boundary) divergence-free finite element bases. By identifying functions in the kernel of the divergence operator, we discover a local basis for the full divergence-free space of the C0-P1 finite element, on the union jack grid. The optimal order of approximation is shown for the P1 divergence-free finite elements on union jack grids...
